Rexnord Facility

As with all of their projects, the team at Glask listened to what was important to Rexnord and designed a building to suit their core needs. There was a need to really understand their business operations in order to meet the brief.

The building required four simultaneously running overhead gantry cranes with 65T lifting capacity, a small wash bay with its own treatment system, and a detailed electrical fit-out. The walls between the office and workshop facility had to be soundproofed; sustainable acoustic products were sourced and used to achieve this. A heavy-duty recessed test bed (10m x 8m) was also constructed with machined floor plates and the millimetre accuracy needed for the client’s testing equipment. The 2,000m2 industrial workshop was purpose built with a 14.6m ridge height to accommodate four simultaneously running overhead gantry cranes with a 65T total lifting capacity, 300m2 two storey office facility, small workshop amenity area and a small wash bay with its own treatment system – then use remainder of what is currently in there.

The team worked through COVID 19 restrictions and a particularly wet winter in Perth. The steelwork supply was an on-going issue locally because of the rising markets, so Glask opted to have it made in Adelaide and freighted across the Nullabor. The coordination and delivery had to be carefully scheduled to ensure the tight time frame (completion in five months, start to finish) was met, so Glask selected Booth Transport for the freight and logistics partner, knowing they would deliver.
